Presidential speech
Hello fellow americans, I stand before you today asking you to vote democrat. Though our views may be different than others, I ask that you consider ours. One important goal would be to expand access to affordable housing and homeownership. This has been a problem for too long, many people on the streets who can not find shelter suffer and lead unfulfilling lives. Others can not afford to purchase a home for themselves or their families. The stress from that situation can affect day to day life and can prevent the person or people from being successful. By providing shelter and financial assistance for homeownership we would remove the stress of homelessness and allow citizens to be more successful.
Another goal would be legalizing marijuana. I believe in this situation the benefits outweigh the risks, if cannabis was legalized then crime rates would go down due to the fact that it would no longer be Illegal to have marijuana on your person. By installing dispensaries all over the country, we would not only be helping the general economy but local economy too. By placing a tax on cannabis the government would have more money for housing, closing the pay gap and other issues that need funding.
The last issue I would like to discuss would be the racial pay gap. Currently in America white men make an average of twenty one dollars per hour, which is more than any woman makes across all races. Black men make an average of fifteen dollars per hour and hispanic men make fourteen. Asian men earn the most with twenty four dollars per hour. Women earn less than men even in their own racial group, asian women make an average of eighteen dollars an hour, white women make seventeen dollars an hour, black women make an average of thirteen dollars an hour, and hispanic women make twelve dollars an hour. This system is unfair, racial profiling shouldn’t be a factor in how you are paid. As Obama has said “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we've been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” nobody is going to change the world for us, we need to do this ourselves. And by voting democrat we can make this happen. Thank you for your time.
